Management from McKesson Canada met with the staff today informing them of their decision to close the Ottawa Distribution Centre branch. The original plan to keep it open for "Sameday delivery" is no longer viable. Therefore, effective end of May/2015 the Ottawa DC will be closing its doors. The Company has agreed to fulfill its contractual obligations regarding layoffs.
Layoffs will be done in three (3) waves. Effective March 6/2015, 23 unionized employees will be laid off, 44 employees on March 27/2015 and April 30/2015, 8 unionized employees will be laid off.
McKesson Canada has a contractual obligation to its employees until the collective bargaining agreement expires on January 31/2016. Recall notices will be provided with the severance package.
